Very good restaurant
Take your horse on holiday
The Pule Estate sits in a remote meadow in the middle of the hilly Dolenjska countryside, far from just about everything (although they have taken it upon themselves to resurface the approach road: no good having a hotel without access). It consists of just five chalets (all wood and glass), which are accessed from the main buildings by a path that meanders down the hill. All around there are old beech woods stretching into the lazy, hazy distance, while the panorama of mountains still further away provides a perfect backdrop. At night the effect of the floor-lit path under the huge starry sky is one that you'll never forget.
An important feature of the estate are the stables, which house five Lipizzaner horses - available for you to ride during your stay. Indeed, there are spare stables if you should want to take your horsey on holiday with you.
The chalets are built with traditional local materials... plus oodles of glass. The view from the lounge is through a huge wall of glass, with a lovely open firplace in the middle. They're filled with some very beautiful furniture - much of which is either authentically original, or specially commissioned - plus flat TVs and all that modern stuff. Each chalet has a terrace, with sun loungers and seating. If you've been to either Pristava Lepena or Nebesa, you'll know what we mean, as the Pule was copied from both of them.
The five chalets are divided into seven suites, named after women from the Anderlič family history:

The restaurant (Pod Skednjem) is in the main building and seats up to sixty people. The outer wall is fitted with glass doors, which can be completely opened during the warmer months. However, the clever bit is on the oposite wall, where you will see large plate glass windows... behind which are the Lipizzaners in their stables: seriously cool.
The head chef, Jure Kapelar, has cooked in many restaurants abroad, including the Savoy, Claridges and the Connaught. His aim is to use modern techniques and fresh, local produce to enliven local traditional dishes (we hope he doesn't mind, but in a similar fashion to Franci Pivk at Kendov Dvorec). His other aim is to eventually make Pod Skednjem Slovenia's best restaurant, and we have no reason to doubt him.
Just outside the restaurant and down some steps is a specially-built wine cellar, stocked with most of Slovenia's very best wines. We strongly recommend that you, er, take full advantage of its proximity.
Cultural Heritage - The local countryside is dotted with old, old churches, castles, and all manner of interesting sites.
Riding - the estate's Lipizzaners are the perfect mode of transport.
Eating - As well as the Pule restaurant, there are many local gostilnas and tourist farms which serve local fare.
Picnics - the restaurant can supply you with a picnic basket and drinks, so you can find a little secluded spot for lunch.
Driving -
apart from visiting Ljubljana (about an hour away), driving through the windy roads through the Dolenjska hills will find you lots of places to kick back and relax. Further afield you could visit the castle at Brežice or even nip over to Zagreb.
Cycling -
like much of Slovenia, Dolenjska is hilly rather than mountainous, and a bike is an excellent way to see the area.
Natural Stuff -
As with the rest of Slovenia, rivers, valleys, vine groves, and of course, the view.
There are meeting/conference
rooms which can be booked, and all feature the latest
facilities.
Slovene, English, German, Italian

More than welcome.
Summers are warm, with July and
August are the hottest months, with daytime temperatures
around 25C, while during spring and autumn you can expect
around 15-20C.
Winters can be very cold indeed, with deep snow sometimes
during January and February: perfect for huddling up in one of these beautiful suites.
The Pule Estate is open throughout
the year, but is closed Monday - Thursday.
In the summer, shorts, T-shirts,
sturdy shoes or boots, something warm for the evenings
and something waterproof in case it rains, for daytime
adventures. In winter: wrap up!
