At last, we have some great places to stay in the hills above Cerkno and Škofja Loka. Since we started Slovene Dream we have often wondered why there was no accommodation in such an amazingly beautiful region. Furthermore, Škofja Loka is a very well-kept example of medieval architecture - definitely worth a good ol' wander for a day or two. The chalet is situated on a hillside and you will have fabulous views from the terrace and garden across to the foothills of the Julian Alps.
Blegoš Chalet has one large and one small double bedroom, two single bedrooms and two double sofabeds. There are two lounges - one on each floor - and a large kitchen diner, which has a door to the terrace and barbecue area, which in turns leads to a nice garden. There are two bathrooms, each with a shower (one has a bath - not that its size warrants such a grand description!). There is a flat screen TV, DVD player and broadband internet access.

Gorenjska is walking country. Nestled into the foothills of the Julian Alps, the countryside is criss-crossed with hiking tracks for all and sundry (and I count myself in the latter): good for a relaxing wander or a damn hard slog. Being Slovenia, you're never far away from a village and its gostilna, so there are plenty of opportunities for a sup and a snack. Of course, by definition, it's biking country, too.
The chalet is located a ten minute drive from the town of Cerkno (pron. Tserkno), which is in turn about 40 minutes from Ljubljana - going the slow way. There is a local shop in the village, from which you can get most of your essentials, while major supplies can be purchased in the main town.

More than welcome.
July and August are the hottest months, with daytime
temperatures around 25C, while during spring and autumn
you can expect around 15-20C. Evening temperatures will
be rather lower, so bring something a little warmer.
In the winter, expect alpine winter conditions (lots
of snow, but the roads are clear).
Blegoš Chalet is open throughout
the year.
In the summer, shorts, T-shirts,
sturdy shoes or boots, something warm for the evenings
and something waterproof in case it rains, for daytime
adventures. In winter: wrap up!
