OUR VIEW
Vila Nebina comprises four apartments in a newly renovated old farmhouse building situated in the pretty village of Rateče, just ten minutes drive from the popular resort of Kranjska Gora. Each of the apartments has shared balcony access (Three has its own), and great views of the locale. Although Kranjska Gora is best known as a ski resort, it is equally beautiful throughout the seasons, and there is plenty to do and see all year round - hiking, river sports, horse riding and mountain or road biking - plus two swimming pools nearby.
ACCOMMODATION Much of the original house has been retained and refurbished, including the vaulted ceilings and balconies, making the feel of the place modern, comfortable and traditional, all at the same time. The kitchens and bathrooms (all with showers) are all fully fitted with new equipment, while the furnishings and flooring throughout are all of traditional local pine. Each apartment also has a flat screen TV and a DVD player... should you like that sort of thing... considering you're in some of the most beautiful countryside in the world... but that's your choice I guess... sorry, where was I? Ah yes, here is a brief outline of each apartment, and a picture thingummy... er, floorplan:

THINGS TO DO Kranjska Gora is at the northern tip of the Triglav (pron. Triglow) national park, bordering Italy to the west and Austria to the north. The area is situated near the meeting of three valleys that lead into the heart of the Julian Alps: Krma, Kot and Vrata. The Krma Dolina (valley) takes you the longest, but easiest, way to Slovenia's national symbol, Mount Triglav. The peak is accessible throughout the summer months, without the need for actual climbing, although you do need to be fit... and set aside a day for the experience. Probably because the Krma is an easier hike, and the Kot the harder - the latter is much, much quieter: recommended for peace and solitude. By far the most impressive is the Vrata: teeming with flora and fauna, splashing with the Perjenik waterfall, in full flow with the Bistrica river and gobsmacking with the north face of Mount Triglav. Vila Nebina is ideal for either summer holidays (hiking, fishing, riding, mountain biking, swimming in the lake... plus our usual, eating and drinking), or winter holidays for skiing of all kinds (excellent for cross-country), winter sports (the world's largest ski jump at Planica is close by) and other snowy activities, like sleigh rides, a toboggan run and skidoos.
LOCAL FACILITIES Rateče is a small village, but has a well-stocked local supermarket for essentials... and four very good traditional restaurants, all within walking distance. And a nice bar. Kranjska Gora itself is about a ten minute drive away, where you will find the same stuff. But more of it.

WEATHER
You might be in the mountains,
but Rateče is also sheltered by those mountains.
July and August are the hottest months, with daytime
temperatures around 25C, while during spring and autumn
you can expect around 15-20C. Evening temperatures will
be rather lower, so bring something a little warmer.
In the winter, expect alpine winter conditions (lots
of snow, but the roads are clear).
WHEN Vila Nebina is open throughout
the year.
TO TAKE WITH YOU In the summer, shorts, T-shirts,
sturdy shoes or boots, something warm for the evenings
and something waterproof in case it rains, for daytime
adventures. In winter: wrap up!
